Field Name Labels

Set friendly field names to identify Custom Fields within features, reporting and exports.

Field names such as "Custom Field #1" can become meaningless when using Targeting or viewing reports and changing the field name label to something like "Car Model" makes it easier to track what the stored data relates to.

The sole purpose of setting custom labels is to make it easier to remember what data stored in a field relates to. Always use standard field names e.g. {?$contacts_data_1?} to reference fields within features such as Email Templates, Workflows and API requests

Set Field Name Labels

Labels can only be set on Custom Fields. User profile fields such as First Name, Last Name etc. cannot be re-labelled.

  1. Expand the "Lists & Users" section in the sidebar.
  2. Click on "Field Name Labels".
  3. Fill in any fields you'd like to set your own label for.
  4. Once ready click "Save Changes"

Example Usage

A car dealership could store their customer's car make, model and engine size in separate fields, and label them accordingly:

Custom Field Name shown as
Custom Field #1 Car Make
Custom Field #2 Car Model
Custom Field #3 Car Engine Size
