Checkout Emails

Ecommerce services (such as Magento, Shopify, PrestaShop etc.) will automatically send out an email when people go through the checkout.

The downside of emails sent by those services is that they're not tracked and are completely unrelated to any other kind of emails you have previously sent to that person - plus, the branding of those emails isn't necessarily going to be consistent with your other marketing efforts.

With some simple integration work there's massive potential for customisation and for leveraging existing User data to create more targeted and personalised emails that generate better results and improve customer satisfaction.

Using Workflows

Triggering a Workflow via the API following checkout provides the opportunity to take the User on a more personalised journey allowing you to do things like:

  • Merge in the basket contents and order details
  • Place promotions and / or codes as incentive to buy again
  • Include snippets of text related to purchase (delivery terms, warranty, booking info etc.)
  • Send a customer feedback email a few days later
  • Add people to Lists based on their purchases
  • Tag people to identify the products they purchased
  • Schedule data based reminders for warranties, renewals etc.

This level of integration requires coding but it is very light-weight and can produce very impressive results. For more information on what Workflows are and how to use them click here
